Activities and responsibilities
We are developing novel reagents for the therapeutic targeting of extracellular vesicles.
Using in-house developed reagents that can bind virtually all extracellular vesicles (EVs) in vivo, we aim to modulate immune responses by targeting specific molecules to naturally occurring EV for therapeutic purposes. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated PhD student with a background in Biochemistry to further develop and optimize these reagents. Your tasks will include designing and cloning of new optimized PS-binding reagents, their expression in bacteria and mammalian cells, protein purification using different affinity chromatography approaches and size exclusion chromatography, in vitro and in vivo testing of these reagents using appropriate cell and mouse assays.
About us:
LMU Munich is one of Europe’s leading research institutions. The Institute of Immunology is part of the Biomedical Center (BMC) of the LMU Faculty of Medicine. The research topics in the house focus on subjects such as lymphocyte interaction and activation, tolerance, autoimmunity, vaccine research, immunity to tumors and infections.
https://www.immunologie.med.uni-muenchen.de/index.html The BMC is located on the Martinsried Campus (one of the best scientific locations in Germany) and offers an ideal research infrastructure with close proximity to the LMU University Hospital, the Faculties of Chemistry and Pharmacy and Biology, the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE-Munich), Helmholtz Center Munich, the Max Planck Institutes for Biochemistry and Biological Intelligence and the Innovation and Start-up Center Biotechnology (IZB). Off campus, Munich is one of the friendliest and liveliest cities in the world and offers a wide range of cultural and leisure activities all year round.
