A PhD student (m/f/d) position is immediately available at the Institute for Biomedical Genetics, Dept. Eukaryote Genetics, within the research group of Prof. Dr. Jörn Lausen at the University of Stuttgart.
The position is funded for an initial period of 3 years with the possibility of extension.
PhD student (m/f/d) Epigenetics and Stem Cell Differentiation
Activities and responsibilities
The successful PhD candidate will get the opportunity to work on an exciting research project which examines basic gene regulatory mechanisms. Some of which are related to human diseases.
A great chance to advance your scientific career!
We are interested in the regulation programs, which drive normal differentiation of hematopoietic and mesenchymal stem cells. We study cell type specific transcription factors and their influence on epigenetically determined gene expression programs. We want to know how normal differentiation is regulated and which mechanisms lead to diseases. Furthermore, we use our knowledge about molecular gene regulatory mechanisms to uncover molecular targets for cancer therapies and to develop tools for regenerative medicine.
Qualification profile
Successful candidates should have a master or equivalent degree in life sciences or medicine. They should have experience in modern cell culture and molecular biology methods. A keen interest in cutting-edge science, good communication skills and the ability to work in a team is mandatory.
